Using Harmony Files from The Pick

From time to time and for the use of PickUp Bands, I'll make a multi-track harmony file that consists of a simple guitar track plus me singing the lead, tenor, and baritone harmony parts.

On these recordings, I pan the tenor part all the way to the right, the baritone part all the way to the left, and leave the lead and guitar in the center.

As a result, by adjusting the balance on your MP3 player, you can listen more closely to either part. In addition, when you're ready to try it yourself, you can completely fade out the part you're working on and sing along with the recording.

To change the left/right balance of an MP3 you can either adjust the balance in the player or on your computer as a whole. To hear only the left or right while using headphones... well, I'm gonna just see if you can figure that one out on your own. See some common examples at left.

Check out the harmony files I've uploaded and see how moving the balance all the way to one side or the other changes the stack.
