Lyrics: Are You Alone
How often I think of the old days I remember well the love that we once knew We parted now and strayed from each other But somehow I can’t help wondering about you
CHORUS: Are you alone with the memory Haunted by dreams of the past Just waiting for someone to tell you You’re playing a game that won’t last
Last night I was dreaming about you I thought you were back here with me I prayed that you’d stay here forever Too soon I realized it couldn’t be
Someday when you’re love dear has faded And we meet on that highway with no end We’ll stroll hand in hand there forever In a land where our love can bloom again

Lyrics: The Sweetest Love
There's a story of two childhood sweethearts And the love that we shared still untold How our childish little vows they were broken And the love that I treasured more than gold
CHORUS: Are you tired of the life that you're living Does your mind wander back to the past Do you think of the love you've forsaken Darlin' true love is too sweet to last
I remember that night in the moonlight When you said that you'd found someone new Do you realize the heartache you caused me Don't you know that my love was so true
Alone in sadness and tragedy I'm lost on this sea of regret Wondering back to the place of my childhood And the one that I've always loved the best

John Hartford's liner notes from Flatt & Scruggs "Foggy Mountain Jamboree"
Larry Cohea and I were talking the other day about watching great bands and studying them closely on stage and he mentioned remembering something John Hartford had written on the topic. Well he dug it up and it turned out to be the liner notes from Flatt & Scruggs "Foggy Mountain Jamboree." Some interesting stuff and thanks to Larry for sending it along. Check it out. (more)

Randomly heard one of my songs being played on the Today Show!
Okay, this was really weird. I woke up this morning and absentmindedly flipped on the TV as Ann went to go take a shower. Just as I did, Ann Curry tossed to Matt Lauer who began introducing a segment.
The video showed a Today Show correspondent who I guess is supposed to be like their comic relief guy or something who covers the random stories. They cut to him in a motorboat with a football helmet and chest protector as fish seem to hurl themselves into the boat. Then I notice that behind the video, I can hear a little bit of banjo in the background and figure it's part of his "hayseed" image.
Then the video cuts to him on the red carpet somewhere doing celebrity interviews and at one point the sound comes up louder and it's ME singing a song I wrote and recorded with Homespun Rowdy called "Second Chance!" My jaw dropped...
Anyway, they must have just found the clip on iTunes or something. Later in the segment the guy mentions to someone that he just started learning how to play the banjo. Who knows!? Anyway, I'm going to email him and see if I can get any more info.
In the meantime, check the video out on You Tube. Just in case you don't believe me, you can watch it on NBC's site after a 30 second commercial.
And no, this is not edited in any way. It really happened! Bizarre. |
